Wow. It's been a while since I've updated this website. A lot has happened since we last spoke. A global pandemic, a spate of mental health issues... its been a rough time. But the good news - nay, the GREAT news - is that I'm back with a new comic!
After a fantastically successful launch at the To Be Continued Comic Art Expo, I'm really happy to announce that my new comic, Chimpanzee With a Razorblade issue 1 is available for sale now on my store.
This has been long in the works - my good friend Tim Vargulish-Chow, who wrote the thing, first approached me about it back in 2019 - and I couldn't be happier that this wonderful, strange, violent and hilarious horror comedy comic is now ready to be seen by the world.
I'm hard at work on issue 2 as we speak, which we're aiming to release early next year. A small note to American buyers - while you CAN buy the comic from my site, it will be much cheaper for yourselves to buy directly from Tim. This is because the copies I'm selling / signing are being sent from the UK, but Tim is based in the United States. Shoot him an email at goatmancomics@gmail.com and he will sort you out with an American edition!
Read on for a brief description of this fantastic story:
What do you get when you combine a chimp with a healthy dose of trauma and a razorblade? Pure bloody murder!
Howard the chimp lives with Doctor Coldwell, looking after his needs and assisting with his important scientific work. It's a good life for a happy little chimp. But when Mr. Losowski and his gangsters pay an unwelcome visit, Howard's life turns upside down. Does he choose the path of peace and understanding?
HELL NO! He picks up a razorblade and swears bloody vengeance!
A new horror / comedy two-part series inspired by 70s Italian giallo horror flicks, Chimpanzee With a Razorblade marks the beginning of a new collaboration between Tim Vargulish-Chow (Goatman, President Werewolf, Orca-Geist) and Sztehlo (Tales from the Border). Be sure to pick up this bloodthirsty first issue and join in on what must be the STRANGEST revenge saga ever told!
This issue was an absolute blast to illustrate. Not only is Tim a really fantastic concept guy, but he's a fantastic writer too - anyone who has read his other work will know this, the guy knows his visual storytelling. On top of that, it's an oddly touching story with some unexpected gut punches, which isn't something you normally expect from this genre! I'm very proud of our work on this, and I'll be back soon with updates on issue 2, as well as some long gestating plans for my future work...
See you in the funny pages,
-Sztehlo.
